Last weekend was one of our great open days that the university holds, for people wanting to have a gander, and find out more information on different courses. It was freezing cold and even though in some parts of the country it was snowing people managed to drag themselves out of their warm houses to attend.
If you didn't know our open days generally run from 10am to 3pm. People arrive at alsorts of times and sometimes don't get to have a look at all they want to if they advise late. I think it is important to plan your day when you visit and open day to truely get an opportunity to experience the university.
Here's a suggested timetable for anyone interested in Primary Education:
* arrive,sign in and grab a cup of tea
* welcome talk
* student finance talk
* primary education talk
* If you have any questions that werent answered in the talk go to the education room and speak to academics
* Speak to an ambassador about your course and what its like at the university
* Campus Tour
* Accomodation Tour
* Student Life Talk
* Speak to representatives from aspire/student union/ disabilities/nursery
This week as I have heard is Snow, Snow, Snow, theres more Snow and when will the Snow go! Surprisingly enough I didn't have much uni on this week and have only had an admin session cancelled. One thing I am doing whilst sitting in my warm bedroom, in my adult babygrow is my Core curriculum Assignment. It's 4000 words, which I am not loving writing. Because of the large word limit I decided to break it down into achieveable chunks....So 1000 words a day. I've kept on target and due to complete my 3rd 1000 words to get me to 3000 and boy am I struggling! The plan is to have it finished by the weekend, so next week I can tweak it! Wish me luck!
I had my first Day School Placement on Monday and got to meet my class that I will be teaching from January. They are a lovely year 2 class in Stepney, East London. There are some funny little characters in the class and I can't wait to work with them. I was really scared of going in and meeting them and the school. But once I was there I didn't want to leave. The teaching placements are the best bit of my course. Putting all I have learnt into practice. I'm there again next week on Monday too!
Thats all for now back to the assignment!
